SKRM-C8-eTap2: For Piets echotapper

Post by tomsouthtrader »

Hello. I have just procured some of these modules.
I am looking for any information about the as the echotapper.nl site is down =/

Does an archive of the information contained on the site exist?
Or are copies of the information out there?

Also, how easy is it to re-program the EEPROM on board? It the second header a link to the SCL and SDA lines?

Many thanks in advance!

The SKRM modules are not really supported anymore. In fact we haven't sold any in a long time so not sure where you got them from.

You will have to track down Piet and ask him if there is an archive of the site or check the wayback machine site.

The 2 pin header does connect to SCL and SDA but we do not support reprogramming of the board.

Hi.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the pages saved on the way back machine seem to give to info about the module itself. All I could find was alot about his interface boar(Which is quite interesting in itself)
But Ok, I will be attempting to track him down for more info =D

Hi Tom,

Yes you can re-program the SKRM EEPROM but you will need a PICkit2 programmer NOT the more recent PICkit3.

I would have to dig back into my decaying memory bank if you are interested.

Hi Tom,

As PhilHaw has said , Piet's Echotapper info is available but you would need to ask for the info you need so that either of us could dig up. Philip, Steve and myself have developed the Echotapper with Piet's permission much further so whatever you need to know we should be able to help you.

Thank you for the programming advice. I had been looking into re-programming with a pickit2 with a hope that's what the headers are =]

And with regards to specific module information..

Is the Module stereo or mono output?
Is there a full set of 8 programs on the prom?
Should I use the Input/Output buffers described in the other SKRM modules schematics?

Thank you very much!

To answer your question about the etap2hw module being stereo or mono. The left output is both dry and echo output while the right output is echo only output.
The EEprom has a full set of 8 programs , 7 of the programs are models of tape echo machines such as the 'meazzi echomatic' The 8 effect is a reverb/tremolo.

This is an old photo of mine showing how to connect the PICkit2 to the SKRM:

That's amazing thankyou! Can't wait to get my hands on the modules now! =D

Is the interface board you have it attached to the one from the echechotapper site?
As I would be incredibly appreciative of the boards schematic, if you still have a copy of it?
I had found some info using the way back machine, as suggested before. But could not find a schematic..
Is it much different from the recommended circuitry for the other modules, I had been looking at this one in particular if the module is mono and has a digital mix control..
https://www.experimentalnoize.com/manua ... C8-G01.pdf

I am trying to find a link in my history. But I am sure I have noted someone on another forum talking about the module also implementing an external feedback loop..
Is this something to take note of?

Many Thanks again!!
